Detoxing the Storm

When the Body Screams First: Because true healing starts once it has our full attention.

My Breaking Point

Before cancer, I thought I was doing everything right.

I ate clean.
Trained before sunrise.
Worked with passion.
Loved hard.
Lived fully.

But somewhere along the way, stress stopped being a surge —
and became a state.

I was running a helicopter business, seven days a week, for seven years straight.
Chasing growth. Protecting the company. Fighting off circling competitors.

Outside, I looked strong.
Inside, my body was screaming.

Some nights, the only relief I knew was sinking to the bottom of the pool, holding my breath, and screaming underwater until my lungs emptied. Because up there — in the world — I didn’t feel like I could.

I assumed the solution was to push harder.
To control more.
To hold it all together.

I didn’t realise I was slowly poisoning my system with my own unprocessed stress. When that perfect storm came, I had nothing left in the tank.

That mistake nearly cost me my life.

Cancer didn’t start the day a scan gave it a name.

It started slowly —
one ignored signal at a time.

“Your biology always tells the truth. Your courage decides when you listen.”

The Real Detox Begins Inside

Most people think detoxing is about:

  • celery juice

  • supplements

  • kale shakes

  • bone broths

  • cutting sugar

  • fasting

And yes — the body appreciates all of that.

But the most dangerous toxins aren’t in the pantry.
They’re in your patterns.

✅ The job that drains you
✅ The relationship that shames you
✅ The belief that you’re not allowed to stop
✅ The fear that if you rest, it will all fall apart

We think we’re being resilient…
but the body calls it chronic stress. And chronic stress calls cancer by name.

Anything that keeps your nervous system locked in survival mode
keeps your body locked out of healing mode.

We cannot heal in the same environment — internal or external — that made us sick.

Detox the Five Dimensions

To truly reclaim balance, the body needs relief in every arena:

  1. Nutritional toxins — inflammatory foods, artificial chemicals

  2. Environmental toxins — mold, pollution, EMF load

  3. Emotional toxins — resentment, guilt, self-criticism

  4. Social toxins — draining relationships, unspoken expectations

  5. Cognitive toxins — stories of scarcity and fear

Cancer is often the consequence of long-term disconnection.
Detoxing is the work of reconnection.

Your biology listens to your boundaries

Every time we say yes when we mean no,
our body goes into debt.

Every time we override our intuition,
our cells get the memo.

Every time we think I’ll deal with it later,
the body starts dealing with it now.

Detoxing is not self-improvement.
It’s self-respect.

Gift yourself permission.

  • Permission to say “No, that hurts me.”

  • Permission to rest without guilt.

  • Permission to stop performing wellness… and start receiving it.

  • Permission to let the body set the pace.

The Reframe

Your body is not betraying you —
it’s advocating for you.

Symptoms are not failures —
they are messages:

“Something in your life is costing more than your biology can afford.”

When we listen, we heal.
When we keep pushing… the body pushes back harder.

By tuning in to my inner world, I influenced its universe.

I learned this too late for prevention —
but just in time for transformation.

So… What About You?

🧭 Consider these questions gently — no judgment allowed:

  • What in your life feels toxic or draining right now?

  • What have you been enduring instead of addressing?

  • What emotions are you swallowing instead of speaking?

  • Where is stress screaming, and where are you shushing it?

  • If your body could negotiate on its own behalf…
what would it demand you change today?

Your answers aren’t scary — they’re instructions.

This is where healing begins

Not in a smoothie.
Not a supplement.
Not in a hospital.

But in the moment you decide:
No more self-abandonment.

Detoxing is how you return to yourself —
so your body can return to balance.

A Gentle First Step

Take five minutes today and ask:

“Where am I pushing past what my body is asking for?”

Then — make one small shift:
• Say no.
• Step outside.
• Pause before reacting.
• Allow the emotion to move.
• Remove what harms your peace.

Healing doesn’t begin with what you remove from your diet.
It begins with what you remove from your denial.
